Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Brighton Marathon on behalf of St Barnabas House hospice.

St Barnabas House hospice provides palliative care and support to patients in Worthing and the surrounding area. Serving a population of 300,000 St Barnabas has cared for more than 25,000 patients since it opened in 1973 and countless families, last year the hospice provided care to over 900 patients.

Having a advanced illness can raise all sorts of practical, physical and emotional issues, which not only the patient but their loved ones too.

St Barnabas services include; an 18 bed in-patient unit where the care staff to provide pain and sympton management, respite care and end of life care. A Day Hospice where patients can visit once a week for social activities and peer support, for many it will be the only chance to escape their own four walls. A Community Team who spend time visiting patients and their families in their own homes and who are only a phone call away to provide additional support and the Family Services Team who provide emotional support.

I am also running on behalf of Sussex's only children's hospice Chestnut Tree House, if you would prefer to support them instead please visit http://www.justgiving.com/James-Millen2
