On October 2nd the Man Group Treasury Team will be abseiling down Guys Hospital, the tallest hospital in the world (and 11th tallest building in London), a height of 469 feet.

Our aim is to raise money for The Place2Be. They are a school-based counselling service, dedicated to improving the emotional wellbeing of children, their families and the whole school community.

Children who show challenging behaviour are usually hiding deeper issues.  Many live in areas of high crime and drug abuse, have experienced domestic violence and may not have slept or eaten before school. Children who are unhappy cannot concentrate and learn. A startling 90% of young offenders had a mental health problem as a child – so it’s vital to address children’s emotional problems before they spiral out of control. Whether they’re coping with bereavement, are being bullied, living in an abusive home or struggling with any of the difficult issues The Place2Be provides a safe place within schools for children to deal with their problems and lay the foundations for a more stable and productive adult life. Their work is proven to help troubled children become happier, better behaved and gain an education – the surest way out of poverty.

I know that there are lots of demands placed upon your income and many of your friends and colleagues will also have come to you for fundraising this year, but anything you can spare, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and 100% of it will go to help this fantastic charity. Please remember to apply Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer.

Thanks for all your help, James.
