The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Gio, part of the Princes Trust came to work with Avanade to give him a good grounding in an office environment and an evolving digital business. He joined us for a 2 week internship, looking to learn and develop his life skills. To give you some more background Gio has a complex family life and is a full time carer to his mum and also his disabled brother.  He had little experience in  corporate life and Avanade helped orientate him into this world. He now has the skills to  conduct himself in a meeting, present to customers  and  has now gained the  confidence to liaise and network with senior executives. Gio (now suited and booted with assistance of The Prince’s Trust) has learn’t essential MS skills,  owns a  laptop, networks through a LinkedIn account and has a great selection of life / office skills which we all take for granted.

Gio’s  internship was extended at Avanade he spent a further 4 weeks with us.  Gio has now proudly landed himself a job with a leading tech innovator and with this experience Gio’s life has turned full circle He now is so proud of himself and can’t believe how much his life has improved since joining The Prince’s Trust. So, please dig deep and sponsor generously as every little bit makes a huge difference to a young disadvantaged person’s life who may not have been so fortunate to have the start that we all did!

Well done Gio….
