Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

The Rainforest Foundation UK aims to protect tropical rainforests by working with those who know the forest best – indigenous peoples and traditional forest dwellers. By supporting them, we're taking a major step forward in the battle to combat climate change.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running for the Rainforest Foundation. I am very passionate about the rainforests, especially after spending time in Central America and seeing the Rainforests first hand and the impact it has on the wild life and eco system.

Rainforests once covered 14% of earth's land surface; now they cover a mere 6%

Around 150,000 square kilometres of tropical rainforest, equivalent to the size of England and Wales, is destroyed every year.

Once the rainforests have dissappeared they do not return, the destruction of the rainforests not only damage the world and its fragile ecosystem, but also those that depend on it to survive. The amount of wild life, animals and insects that are unknown to science are being destroyed at an alarming rate.

It is this distruction that I passionately believe should stop and through running the London Marathon anything that I can raise to help such a worth while cause and fragile ecosystem would make me immensly proud.

So please dig deep and donate now.
