Story
I
am absolutely delighted to be representing Afghanaid
an awe-inspiring charity devoted to creating
a peaceful Afghanistan - that is politically and
economically independent.
In typical fashion I am going all out on this endeavour. I am running London Marathon and The Windermere Marathon 3 weeks apart in April. Not only that - I am running the Lakes In A Day in October which is a 50 mile race from 'tip te tail' covering a spine chilling 4000m accent! - This is nothing short of a premature mid- life crisis! Afghanaid is my fuel that keeps me inspired, motivated, and devoted to achieve these goals.
Afghanaid
works with men, women, and children in the most remote and poor areas of the
country, understanding the communities and their needs, gaining trust, and
helping to develop their skills and improve people’s prospects. Below are some examples
of what your money will go towards achieving in Afghanistan:
- £12 can provide a family with a lifesaving water filter
- £25 can pay for sanitation and hygiene training for 30 women
- £40 can buy enough fruit saplings to establish one
private orchard, allowing a woman to feed her family
- £100 can pay for basic bookkeeping training for six women, setting
them up to manage basic finance and run a small business
- £250 can build an outdoor latrine for one family,
thereby reducing the risk of diseases
- £520 can buy blankets, clothing and shoes for 20 children,
ensuring they are warm during the freezing winter months
- £1,500 can build a safer, new home for an Afghan family
Your help, support, encouragement and generosity is greatly appreciated
Thank you
James
