Great North Swim 2009 · 12 September 2009 ·

Living with deafblindness can be incredibly lonely, isolating and scary. Our specialist support helps people cope emotionally and practically. We listen, advise, care, support, coach, mentor and connect people. We help people to live better with sight and hearing loss.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to swim the Great North Swim on behalf of DeafBlind UK, being Deaf or Blind is incomprehensible to most of us, so being both is something I can not even begin to understand. As such I feel it is a Charity I would like to do my best to help raise money and help raise awareness of a problem which has been described as 'the loneliest condition in the world'.

I will be partaking in the Great North Swim on Sunday the 13th of September, It is a 1 mile swim in lake Windermere. I have bought my wetsuit of eBay (I intend to give it a good wash when it arrives) and begun training.

Anything you can give to help DeafBlind UK will be gratefully received and help to motivate me around what will undoubtedly be a very cold swim.

Thanks again,

James
