Story

15 months ago I unexpectedly lost my father to septicaemia, so I have organised this charity cricket match in his memory in order to raise more awareness of the disease and to fund some money for the UK Sepsis Trust. My father was a great sportsman and there was nothing more enjoyable for him than to take part in or watch cricket all around the world.

Septicaemia is not recognised as a cause of death in the UK, therefore people can be unaware of the dangers of the disease. Through this cricket match, I'm hoping that people have a better general understanding of the disease and hopefully that information may save a few lives in the future.

This is an open invitation for anyone who would like to watch a good game of cricket on a hot (hopefully) summers evening with a glass of wine and to take part in raising some money for the UK Sepsis Trust in a happy environment.

The Game:

Location: Marlborough College First Team Cricket Pitch

Friday 10th June:       20/20 Limited Overs Match

Start: 18:15           Finish: 21:45 (roughly)

Old Marlburian X1 vs Sepsis Select X1

BBQ and Drinks will be provided!

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
