Story
As some, if not all, of you will know, I work for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and have done for just over six months now.
In that time I've come to learn so much about cystic fibrosis, a life-limiting genetic condition, and how it can affect people. From teenagers needing double lung transplants through to half of people with cystic fibrosis unlikely to see their 40th birthday, it can have a horrible effect on those living with it.
However I've also been able to see the progress being made to beat cystic fibrosis for good. We're seeing new medications and therapies become available to help manage the condition and pioneering genetic research being conducted as we move closer to a cure.
Now here comes the obvious part: This costs money. Quite a bit of money. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust funds research, works with industry and provides advice and support but we can always do more.
That's why the Trust is redoubling its efforts in 2014, its 50th anniversary year, and why as part of it I got my friend Bav to enter the Leeds 10k. The catch? I have to do it too.
So please do donate, and help beat cystic fibrosis for good. It's a fight we must win
