Press Release: Bunny Man Sleeps Rough for Children’s Charity
James Squires, famed for walking to work dressed as a Bunny this Easter, is back on the streets again - but this time in his sleeping bag!
The local Managing Director of Austin Banks Recruitment will join other supporters and sleep rough on October 8th at ‘The Big Sleepout’, a fund raising event organised by SAFE@LAST children’s charity. James will be encouraged by his 6 year old son, Joe, who will be there to say goodnight before returning home with Mum.
The signature event, which has been running successfully in Rotherham for three years, will be held at and aims to raise funds and awareness for children at risk through running away. Last year saw over 200 supporters sleep rough on the tarmac for one night, raising over £21,000.
As this will be the first event, the charity is keen to attract participants. Claire Saddinton, Event Co-ordinator said “‘The BIG Sleepout’ is one of our signature events and we are pleased to have the opportunity for it to take place in Doncaster and are grateful to Lakeside Village for supporting the event. We need lots of people up to take part and help us to keep children safe and are sure the people of are up for the challenge.” Past supporters have braved freezing temperatures and wet weather to raise to support @LAST in delivering its vital services for vulnerable young people which include work in schools, a helpline, ongoing support and an emergency refuge. @LAST works with young people in who are at risk through running away. The charity provides a range of services including an emergency refuge to provide short term safe accommodation to support these vulnerable young people. The @LAST refuge in South Yorkshire is now the only one operating in .
