In October we're both running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.  For those of you who don’t know, the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust (DKHLT) is my company’s chosen charity of the year, and it truly is a worthwhile cause.  Morgan Hunt has been sponsoring the Trust’s ‘Get on Track’ programme.

Twenty six young people from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds were recruited onto this programme with the aim of increasing their confidence, self-esteem and employability skills in order to get them into employment or further education.  The youngsters were mentored by world class athletes – Adam Whitehead, Jenna Downing and Neil Danns, who guided the youngsters through community-based challenges and activities, including a ‘Dragons Den’ style day which was held at our Morgan Hunt offices.  All of the kids were extremely motivated and enthusiastic, and it was amazing to see the obstacles they overcame and the incredible changes they made over the course of the programme.  The most recent programme in Southwark has just come to an end, with many of Morgan Hunt’s clients pledging support to these children by providing work placements, jobs or opportunities for further education.

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust inspires young people to find and fulfill their potential in sport or in life through their workforce of elite sports performers.  Through innovative projects and programmes delivered by the Trust’s team of inspirational sports performers, they help young people to participate, stay in and excel in sport, and help disadvantaged young people to find and believe in their own talents.
