On Friday 5th July we are swimming 6km along the Thames on behalf of the The Royal Hospital of Neuro Disability.

My mother-in-law, Sonny Drane, was a long term patient at the RHN for 4 years following an accident which resulted in severe brain trauma.

Sonny passed away peacefully on Tuesday 21st May and the family will always be grateful for the support and care provided by the RHN.

The RHN is truly a unique hospital. It cares for people who have brain damage or a disease affecting their brain. People come to the RHN for many reasons, from a stroke to a traffic accident, or a disease. The RHN provides services and therapies to ensure people with Neuro-disability can have the best quality of life possible.

But there is something very different about the RHN. They don’t just treat people with profound disabilities, they care for them as individuals, creating care plans that resonate with them on a personal level, and offering practical and emotional support to them and their families every step of their journey.

It provides dignity and care for all its patients and a sense of reassurance and calm for families and friends. 

 

The hospital is a charity based organisation, and it needs a substantial amount of money each year, in excess of £2 million, to help look after its residents.
