Story

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page, I'm walking the Shine London 2012 on the night of the 29th-30th September 2012.

I'm undertaking the walk in memory of my late uncle Mike Minshull. For those who knew him and loved him he was a larger than life character, both physically and in personality.

He was always full of joy, full of fun and had that amazing ability to brighten a room simply by walking into it. When I was a child he played Santa Claus every Christmas at family gatherings and created memories that will last a life time. As I grew up he was someone I admired enormously and someone I always had endless respect for.

In August 2004 he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and fought this bravely for two years before it finally claimed his life in June 2006.

Mike was a passionate walker and loved the Lake District, I share these passions – although I admire the lakes from a distance – and I think he would have approved of my choice to walk the Shine Marathon.

There are few of us who have not known someone who has had a brush with cancer or even lost someone we love to cancer, so I am asking for a simple donation so that we can work together to support the amazing work Cancer Research UK does.

Thank you for your support.
