Story

Dear colleagues, friends and family,

Many of you have heard that I’ve signed up to a charity challenge on the 7th June 2014. For those of you that haven’t heard let me explain the in’s and out’s of what it will entail, and why I have chosen to take part and contribute to such a worthy cause.

The challenge starts at 6am & involves 4 mixed teams of 4 conquering Mt. Ben Nevis (1,343m). BUT, we decided this was not enough of a challenge for us. We really want to test ourselves and make you guys feel like your donations will be worthwhile. We want blood, sweat and maybe some tears! Therefore, we will be cycling 15 miles (on road) to the Loch Lochy to have a dabble at canoeing. Canoeing is a course of 3 kilometres but do not be fooled, it does not finish there – that would of course be too easy! The final stint is a further 10 miles cycling to the finish!

The main reason why I agreed to take part...

My mum was recently diagnosed with a rare heart condition; the doctors couldn't give it a name as they've never come across it before. Her heart had moved around her chest which had caused dizziness, loss of breath & loss of appetite, amongst a few other symptoms. This has affected the things she loves doing, like travelling. She has bravely battled lung cancer - and won - which in turn has seen her sacrifice a lung. But now my beautiful mum faces a greater battle.

It was a big scare for me and our family a second time around. So this is my way of showing that however big or small the donation is, it will aid the research for the cardiologists around Britain.

I have to admit that this is my first ever physical challenge for charity, so I thought why not make it a big one?

Some of you may think that this is just a walk in the park, although others wouldn't even dream of it... for me this is going to be my biggest challenge. I’ll admit I’m nervous but I’m also very eager & excited to take part!

If I pass my target of £600 I will be more than thrilled as this will be the biggest amount of money I have ever raised!
