Yorkshire Marathon 2018 · 14 October 2018 ·

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.

Story

I must be glutton for punishment! I have signed up for my second Marathon!

As most of you are aware last year I ran the London Marathon to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and for my brother Carl Denning who was fighting Pancreatic Cancer at the time.

Sadly Carl lost his very long battle in June last year, he fought and was so brave right to the end and we were all very proud of him.

I will always remember speaking to him the day before the London marathon and his encouragement was amazing. Following the marathon Carl was in touch daily to check if I was ok and making me laugh even though he was fighting his own battle, that was Carl. We all miss him a lot.

Wheatfields hospice cared for Carl so much in a final weeks and days and made him so comfortable. I wanted to repay that not just for Carl but for the many people they do such an amazing job for. It really is a special place.

So, I will be running the Yorkshire Marathon in October in memory of Carl and for Sue Ryder / Wheatfield’s Hospice.

As I did for the London marathon I will be hounding you all for sponsors, I raised an amazing £3000 last year and thats mainly thanks to all of you.

Can I top that this year? I will give it my very best shot.

Can I beat last years time? Damn right I will. This year I will be fitter, faster and stronger than ever. I can promise you that. 🏃‍♂️👊🏼

Thank you all for your continued support, it really does mean a lot to me and my family.
