Oxford Mail OX5 RUN 2019 · 24 March 2019 ·

The Oxford Mail OX5 RUN is a five mile run around the grounds of Blenheim Palace taking place on Sunday 24th March at 10.00am. Its our biggest annual fundraiser for the Oxford Children's Hospital, raising over £100,000 each year.

Story

Working for the Oxfordshire Hospital School I see the amazing work of the dedicated staff at the Oxford Children's Hospital week in, week out. The quality of care and support given to poorly children and their families is humbling. The charity have supported our pupils by funding virtual reality headsets and recently two telepresence robots - extras that go a long way to improving the experience of children undergoing medical treatment.

I've also seen their impact as father to my son Edward. We've spent many nights on the wards following his numerous spinal operations. He enjoys staying in hospital so much he is actually quite disappointed that his spinal fusion in September was probably his last op. Weather permitting, Edward will be accompanying me around the 5 mile course in his wheelchair.

Oxford Hospitals Charity supports the different departments and wards of Oxford University Hospitals, helping to provide the best medical equipment, research and facilities for our patients and staff. Your support helps transform care across all our hospitals, including: The John Radcliffe - Churchill - Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre - Horton General and Oxford Children's Hospital.
