Brayden's best friend Archie's has a little cousin, Lily. She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer in August 2013, when she was just 20 months old. After 10 days of gruelling tests, we were told that the cancer had not spread, and she has now started a 3 month treatment plan in order to firstly shrink, and then remove the tumour.
Children develop neuroblastoma whilst in the womb and only 100 children are diagnosed with it each year in the UK. Early detection is the key - out of every 100 children diagnosed, it has spread in 75% of these. Out of this 75% only 45% go on to fully recover. If it is detected early & hasn't spread children have a 90% chance of making a full recovery. Shocking statistics! Her family are working tirelessly to raise money to do more research so we wanted to do our bit too.
