Rome Marathon · 17 March 2013 ·

Migraine is the most common and disabling neurological disorder in the UK, which affects 1 in 7 people. The Migraine Trust is the only research and support charity for people affected by migraine in the UK. We fund and promote research, provide support and information, and campaign for change.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to come to our page.

Dom and I were both planning to run the Rome Marathon on the 17th March for the Migraine Trust, a charity that has given a lot of help over the years to Dom's Mum, who has suffered from very painful and debilitating migraines for much of her life.  Sadly Dom has had to reluctantly pull out of our marathon attempt as a serious injury to his knee whilst skiing at Christmas is not going to have healed enough by 17th March to enable him to run.  I am still aiming to complete the marathon as I feel it is a great cause and the money raised will help the Trust to continue funding and promoting research on migraine, in order to better understand it, improve diagnosis and treatment and ultimately to find a cure.  It will also help the Trust to provide evidence based information to support those suffering from migraine, and their families, in order that they can better understand and live with this condition.

The route of the marathon takes in many of the sights of Rome including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, St. Peter's Square and the Vatican City, which all sounded great to us!  Considerably less great though is the fact that Rome is also apparently known as "the city of seven hills", something which neither of us was aware of when we both agreed to take this challenge on.  However, I am optimistic, perhaps somewhat foolishly, but surely it can't be worse than the hills in Exeter!?, and am determined to do this so if you feel you are able to donate and help me reach my individual target of £500 it would be hugely appreciated by both of us and also by the Migraine Trust.

Thank you
