Blenheim Triathlon 2013 · 8 June 2013 to 9 June 2013 ·

When the sun goes down the working day ends for millions of people without electricity. At the flick of a switch, lives can be instantly changed with a solar light. SolarAid wants to make real, sustainable change happen.

Story

With 3 young children and a demanding job I have not done a lot of exercise over the last few years so I decided that it was time to do something about it. I have never taken part in a Triathlon before so the one at Blenheim Palace looked like a good place to start. The sprint event includes a 750m swim in a cold lake, 19.8k on a very small saddle followed by a 5.4k run and after that I think I’ll need medical assistance to get me home.

I'm aiming to raise £500 for SolarAid. Just £6 helps share the cost of a solar light so families in Africa no longer have to use toxic kerosene. And by selling lights SolarAid are creating a market so use of solar will spread quicker than handouts of aid.
