Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, which is raising funds for a 'Walk into Lent'.
The Lutheran Church in Great Britain is a wonderful church. It brings together into one family people of many nations and cultures, and of all ages. This is our Golden Anniversary year: the LCiGB is 50 years old in April 2011. We want the church to be looking forwards, following Christ, caring for all its members and witnessing joyfully and faithfully to the Good News.
This year the Council has decided to aim to put the LCiGB on a more secure financial footing. This will help to support our work and ensure the future of our family. Our Anniversary fund is the 50/50 fund: we are asking every one to consider giving '50' to celebrate the 50th birthday. We know that generosity comes in all shapes and sizes: so whether you can afford to give 50p, £5, £50, or even £5000, all gifts will be very welcome.
To start this fund off, I am aiming to raise £5000 through a sponsored Walk into Lent on Shrove Tuesday, 8 March, walking 5 miles from the Norwegian Church in Rotherhithe to the International Lutheran Student Centre in Kings Cross, stopping to say prayers at St George's Lutheran Church in Aldgate and St Anne's in the City. This will begin the Lent journey, which starts on Ash Wednesday, the next day.
Please give with a generous heart, and please also support this
in prayer
by passing on the message
by thinking of your own way to support your church
