The Great Glen Way · 3 June 2012

We have over 10 years of experience of working in the villages of Bodo and Funzi in Kenya where people lack basics like sanitation. We have built schools, medical clinics and brought clean drinking water. We help villagers start businesses to feed their families and end the cycle of poverty.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My sister, Di Iles and I decided about a year ago to do a long distance walk in memory of our Mum & Dad, John & Sheila Floyd. After much discussion we decided to walk across Scotland from Fort William to Inverness. Following an inspirational talk from Ashley on the fantastic work he & the trust are doing, we decided to raise some funds to help the Funzi Bodo cause. Hopefully we can help to make a difference. Please support us in our cause as every little helps. We did it ! What an amazing experience, but much harder than we both imagined, especially on the last day. The weather was very kind to us all the way except for the last day which resembled a scene from Jane Eyre, as we were alone on the moors surrounded by swirling mists and miles from anywhere. We also need to rewrite the dictionary up there as the word undulating means a vertical climb, a low level walk means four hours of climbing steadily, eventually means never, the list is endless..... Big thanks to our men who ferried us back and forth and provided support at the end of the day. Thanks to you all for your kind donations and messages of support during our trek.
