half marathon memory walk

London Memory Walk + Half Marathon · 12 October 2019 ·
I'm walking to make Alzheimer's a memory.
Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year - the equivalent to one person every three minutes.
I, like so many people I know, have seen the devastating effect dementia has on individuals and their families.
Every penny you donate to Alzheimer's Society is making sure that they can be there for people affected by dementia and for every £1 expenditure, 89p is spent on improving the lives of people with dementia - the remaining 11p is spent on support frontline activities.
Did you know that;
£80 pays for over 660 sessions on Talking Point, an online forum, which gives people living with dementia a safe space to share and learn from each other.
£150 allows the Helpline team be there for around 12 people living with dementia and provide the support they need.
£345 brings a person living with dementia together with trained volunteers from the Side by Side service helping them to reconnect with their community and;
£600 could bring direct expert advice from a dementia advisor to 10 people struggling to understand what to do next after a diagnosis.
There are 3,000 services across England, Wales & Northern Ireland which offer information, care and support to people with dementia, their families, friends and carers. These services range from support workers and side by side volunteers to dementia cafe's and singing for the brain sessions. These are all invaluable and can offer some much needed respite for those who are caring for dementia sufferers.
