I'm doing the Great North Swim - one mile in Lake Windemere - to raise money for the Encephalitis Society. My daughter Rebecca survived this rare and terrible disease. I have now done the Swim - last Sunday! It was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute. The conditions were perfect - warm and sunny weather, calm and clear on the lake. Even the water wasn't too cold - the wetsuit helped. I managed a time of 47.13 minutes, not bad for breast stroke and taking time to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
