Sadly this has hindered his development and affected him in many ways, both physically and mentally. He has managed to defy all our expectations with his progress, helped along by loads of support and treatment. His main challenges are communicating and mobility. 7 months ago he started intensive treatment at Footsteps and in that time there has been a substantial improvement. The intensive therapy is unique in the UK and is repeated at least 3 times a year. At the latest session, he was able to walk along a set of parallel bars independently, so he is showing marked progress over a short period of time. The treatment has been specifically designed to help children like Barney to overcome their neurological challenges with the ultimate aim of making them more mobile. It is also designed for him to enjoy himself (please see the picture of him at his last session). The money I’ll raise will go towards helping Barney (and other children) reach their goals of increasing their mobility. So please dig deep and have one less pint in the pub this weekend and instead put the money to a very deserving cause …</span></span></span></p>
