Supporting Dalit Children is a small charity set up in 2008 to educate Dalit children (the 'untouchables') in Southern India. The charity has direct links with a school built for Dalits and other low-caste children.

Story

<p class="western"><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Richard and Jane are walking the length of Hadrian's Wall over the next 3 months. We would like to sponsor the work of St Xaviers School<span style="color: #000000;"> in Southern India a unique school for India&rsquo;s poorest children. The students, mainly Dalits, are all from backward communities and other marginalized groups. St. Xavier&rsquo;s was founded by two Indian Jesuits called Father Eric and Father Maxim and currently educates 1000 children from 75 villages. </span></span></span></p> <p class="western"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The school receives no financial aid from the Government so all associated running costs such as financing teachers&rsquo; salaries, buying uniform, books, food and providing a boarding hostel are paid for by private benefactors and charitable institutions such as </span></span></span><em><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Supporting Dalit Children</span></span></span></em><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">.</span></span></span></p> <p class="western"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></span></p> <p class="western"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Please make a donation to help these children now.</span></span></span></p>
