<p>FIGHT FOR SIGHT is dedicated&nbsp;into funding research into the prevention and treatment of blindness and eye disease. By the age of 65&nbsp; 1 in 6 of us will become blind or partially sighted. The personal impact that this visual impairment has on peoples lives became apparent to me last&nbsp;year. I had a detached retina and nearly lost my sight but I am really grateful to the surgeon at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, who operated on me. I was very concerned that&nbsp;I would never be able to run again but Mr Bates told me to get back out there and run.
