I am raising money for Macmillan because the care they give to cancer patients and their families is invaluable. But they are not funded out of hours.

My mum was diagnosed with cancer on a Bank Holiday weekend, she was told on a Friday and there was no-one available for her to speak to her until 4 days later, she had to take the news, tell family and deal with her emotions alone.

Mum died on Christmas Eve, there were no Macmillan nurses available to help us because they are not funded out of hours.

During the two most important dates in our life and death struggle there was no support available, no shoulder to cry on, no one to help us.

I hope that the money I raise will provide out of hours services.
