Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who sponsored me last time and who helped me raise such a phenomenal amount of money for Save the Children. I would love to raise even more this time to help Save The Children reach as many needy children as possible.
Here's an update after my last fundraising efforts of the 2012-13 running season...
Lots of surgeries (6 in total!) on my left foot, right knee and lady parts, and a loss of marathon fitness which I am now endeavouring to get back. I have just run a half marathon to dip my foot back into the race water and I LOVED it, despite my slower time.
I'm pleased to say that since then, I have been getting stronger and fitter every day and I'm thankful to be out training again.
I initially signed up to just run the 2017 Chicago Marathon, but I was so disappointed with my time in London in 2013 despite being injured, I wanted to have another shot at putting in a better time, but also to run the race and enjoy it and take in the sights and the atmosphere rather than running around in complete agony and not taking in anything. So I'm hoping I get a place with Team Save the Children for the 2018 London Marathon.
As you may know, our family, but especially my Mum, Eleanor Rotheram volunteered for many years for Save the Children, a charity she was very passionate about supporting until she passed away in July 2010 from a very rare cancer none of us saw coming.
Please support me in my fund raising efforts to hit my new £2000 target and beyond. (If you are donating in the USA, you can still donate on this website but unfortunately you are not eligible for the gift aid contribution) I truly am grateful for your contribution and I know that the money you donate will go to a very good cause at home in the USA or UK, and in countries around the world wherever children are in need. If you are unable to sponsor me at this time, please wish me well in my endeavors and for safe, injury free training up to these races.
From the bottom of my heart and stinky running shoes, and in my mum's memory and for children all over the world, I thank you so very much.
Love, Janet xxx
