Janet's first charitable effort (in quite a while) page

Byte Night Thames Valley 2015 · 2 October 2015 ·
Deprivation, child neglect and youth homelessness remain a massive problem around the UK. We often view the possibility of homelessness as distant and unlikely. But every year around 80,00 young people in the UK experience homelessness.
In a family under pressure, relationships can become fractured and breakdown. Arguments can escalate and those affected can feel they have no choice but to leave home. If that person is below the age of 21, then chances are they will have few places to turn.
Imagine if your life was a doorway, a backpack and your clothes sodden & dirty - how difficult it would be make misguided choices. Any dreams and ambitions forged in childhood quickly fade and are replaced by the crushing expectation and harsh reality of adulthood. Without support of charities like this, those dreams will never be fulfilled
On 2nd October I will be sleeping rough along with thousands of other people across the UK so vulnerable young people don’t have to. The money raised by Byte Night, enables Action for Children to support services around the country. This could be help with tenancy agreements, mentoring, job hunting support. This charity provides support to people who may not have anyone else or poor role models around them. Or they could just have been born into families where they have to give primary care for adults who aren't able to look after themselves.
These services provide young people with the space, security and stability they need to get their lives back on track and are crucial to preventing youth homelessness. By donating to Byte Night, you can help those in danger of being forgotten, and give them the opportunity to build a better life for themselves.
YOU can do your bit by supporting my Vodafone sleep out team by donating on my page.
Vodafone will be match funding and we are aiming for more than 10k from the Northern Europe 20 strong team.
Lets be honest, those who know me well, know I am never running a marathon....but sleeping even rough, or even talking my way through a night in the open air with just a golf umbrella - one assumes for self defence, and a sleeping bag , is something I can do to raise money. So give generously!
Not known for my love of camping, I am doing this to raise some money for a not so well know charity who return 96% of funds raised straight to the charity. That's the highest return of any charity in the UK. So sponsoring me is money well spent.
Give what you can and don't forget to tick gift aid!
Thank you
