Anita and I, aka 'The Waltham Wonders', have decided to enter the Playtex Moonwalk both to keep oursleves fit and healthy and to raise money for Breast Cancer research and support programmes.  We have both recently retired and therefore now have more time for such ventures than hitherto and we have had great fun meeting regularly in order to get into training for the event.  We have renewed our acquaintance with some fascinating parts of London in the process.  We are very much looking forward being part ot the enormous crowd of 15,000 people doing to the Moonwalk next month and hope that some of you will be able to make it down there to cheer us on.  Your support will be very much valued.  Here are some of the things that the money raised will help to provide:

More scalp coolers in hospitals across the UK.  The so-called Paxman system for scalp coolers, which the charity promotes, works by freezing the scalp at the time of infusion of chemotherapy which prevents concentrated toxic agents from damaging the hair follicle which subsequently reduces the risk of hair loss.  People receiving chemotherapy are thus able to continue as normal with their daily lives

More financial support for the Bristol Approach.  The Bristol Approach, developed by doctors, nurses, therapists and people with cancer, is a unique combination of complementary therapies and self-help techniques. It is designed to work alongside medical treatment and is supported by leading oncologists and others in the healthcare field.

Further grants and support for Breakthrough Breast Cancer to enable scientists to make important discoveries that will help find new methods of prevention and aid the development of new treatments.

Please give generously for this most valuable cause.
