Thank-you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Following the hugely successful 'Reaching Higher' trek to celebrate Who Cares? 30th Anniversary in 2009 and the follow up trip to Nepal in 2010 to install a clean water system in the village school at Chitti Tilihar, Who Cares? Scotland is offering older young people and their supporters the opportunity to 'Reach' even 'Higher' and take part in a trek to Everest Base Camp in October/November 2012. The trek will be an amazing opportunity for the young people involved and will raise money to support the invaluable work of Who Cares? Scotland.
Who Cares? Scotland is a voluntary organisation supporting all of Scotland’s children and young people in care. They provide a voice by working directly with young people, listening to what they say and speaking out with them. They promote and protect their rights and involve them in decision-making. At the heart of the work is the goal of enabling young people in care to enjoy a positive life now, and reach their full potential in the future.
Once again Who Cares? Scotland will be working in collaboration with Community Action Treks which means that in addition to raising funds for Who Cares? Scotland we will be helping to improve the health and education of the people in Nepal.
Community Action Treks is a not-for-profit travel company and as such the company is able to transfer funds to its charity arm, Community Action Nepal. CAN funds and supports schools, Health Posts and a variety of other profects. They work closely and in partnership with local communities to enable and empower them and thus avoid contributing to doner dependency
