My story

Well there we have it folks ! Run completed and it feels amazing. Official Time was 2h 01mins but my own timing was 1h 59mins - not quite as quick as I would have liked but pleasing for a first timer.

I know there are still a few people who want to donate so we will leave page opn for a while longer yet and will also add some photos from the day too.

I must though say a huge thank you to you all for your donations, messages of support and help / advice in the last five weeks or so. It's a cliche to say it, but I really couldn't have done it without that support. We have already raised a fantastic amount for the Hospice and John is really pleased and proud of what we have achieved as a big 'extended' family. Thanks again and promise to put some pics up later.

Love Jarrod x

Here now and raring to go ! Come on!

Saturday. Well not long now, dry week and back to 'running' weight of 96Kgs ! Had a nice ride this morning after concentrating on swimming this week and feel great and raring to go. Start and end is Congleton High School CW12 4NS and we are going to The Elms Pub, Pickmere WA16 0JX afterwards so if you can make it at all feel free ! Thanks to you all for support and donations, you can see we have reached our target and I feel so humbled, support and donations have been amazing, Thank you.

Wednesday. Well not long now until the Run. Have been advised not run much this week and so have done some swimming instead - mind numbingly boring though I must admit. I have been watching my diet especially this week introducing 'carbs' and staying off anthing other than Water, Coffee and Juice - I can feel that it is going to be a long week ! Thanks again for continued support and sponsorship - I am sure we will easily make our target which will be fantastic! Will put details up later but if anyone fancies beng at start/ finish or even meet after race (The Elms Pub, Pickmere) please feel free it will be great to see you - details to follow.

Monday. Friday's run was a real struggle - tight groin meant I only did 5k instead of 10k as I had hoped to, and worse still (well you know what I mean!) a night of Curry / Beer was an unlikely entry to training programme at this stage. Following on from that I opted for a rest day Saturday, though sadly no rest from beer as we had a family party Saturday evening which was very nice but not a 'dry' event it has to be said ! Did ok though and was in bed by 10pm. All of the above meant that Sunday's 'big' run was even more important than it ought to have been. Woke up and saw the biblical rain - have to say it took the fact that I had two very kind volunteers to run with me to ensure I did it and not roll over. Thanks Jayne and David, would have been easy for me to cry off with out you both! We did a great run through Dunham Golf, to Dunham Park and then a nice route of Bowdon, Hale, Hale Barns and Hale which surprisingly amounted to 11.6 miles ! We actually could not have been wetter but we did a fair time and it has given my huge confidence ahead of next week. I managed to follow that with several lengths of the pool at the gym followed by a very nice extended Hydro Pool & Steam Room session. A little stiff today but nothing serious - a week of swimming and one perhaps two short runs and I'll be raring to go - can't wait. Thanks again to new Sponsors and hoping to see a few more grace the page this week and get us to our target!

Thursday. Sorry for lack of update! Weekend was tough - too much fine food and wine but did manage 5 miles on the road Sunday morning - thanks Jayne but won't trust your measurements again ; ) ! Hit by manflu Mon and Tue and so a 5k run was all I managed Weds which was tough believe it or not. Five-a-side tonight and 10k tomorrow! Thanks to all the new sponsors, I really appreciate your support. Also good news from the scales - a stone off since starting the regime!

Saturday. Bummer staff at F&B's were actually slower  than the Commonwealth Cleaning Staff and we didn't leave (without a beer but a healthy-ish Salad and Fruit Salad consumed) till late and missed Paul Heaton Gig gutted - sorry Sam. Just back from 8miles and firstly I did it and feel really good, secondly had hoped to do it in 1hr 10mins but did it in 1h 1m with a bit of room for improvement too. Off to celebrate a Special Birthday now and got a feeling it was a genius plan to bring my 'long' run forward a day!

Friday. Struggled to get up but did and quickly found the motivation to get going. Three miles done - hardly Commonwealth Standards (though probably quicker than the cleaners there!) but steady. Later Frankie and Benny's for Harrisons Birthday Tea - to beer or not to beer?

Thursday.Despite interruptions in the night - Ruby being Ill in bed, (well, bed, floor and freshly painted Walls) - been to gym and done my five mile run taking a min off last effort ! Ps who told me this would get easier ! pps just weighed myself and 98.6Kgs!! Also Thanks to new sponsors !

Tuesday. Three miles done and half of that with an incline ! Had hoped to break 20 mins but was a little over 22! Managed a decent swim afterwards and so feeling the benefit of training. Will have to be careful today - Harrison's birthday, Jen's been baking and five miles to do before work tomorrow! Thanks for all the donations so far, the response has been amazing and all your messages really help when I am really struggling.

Monday. Three miles done - had hoped to break 20 mins but effects of overindulging yesterday put paid to that! Still did it though all the same.

Sunday. Rest day - and a Wedding with all of the trimmings - tried to be good but will find out how good later when I go for next run. Not too bad today only three miles - thankfully !

Saturday. Well managed the three and four mile runs Thu and Fri and today was five miles.  Not had a drop to drink since Tuesday nights trip to OT and so was feeling hopeful for this morning. Well did it and did in a little over 40 mins - was tough towards the end but found the motivation and actually when I stopped felt there was a little bit left in the tank!

First update guys.

Today is a momentous day - first time this Century that I have weighed-in in two digits ! Admittedly it was 99 Kilos but going in the right direction. Have done 3 miles this morning, and will be doing 4 miles tomorrow morning and 5 miles Saturday.

Ok, full info to follow but the plot is I am going to run the Congleton Half Marathon in aid of the fantastic St Lukes Cheshire Hospice, in Winsford.

More detail to be added later and may even start a blog to get my through the (10 week) Training Programme, that I need to do in 5 !

Thanks in advance for your support and donations !
