Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many of you will know from the press there is a humanitarian crisis in East Africa.  Next week I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and would like to give you the opportunity to help me raise money to help the people there.   For the trip, I have paid all my expenses so any money you donate will go directly to the good cause.

The charity we will be supporting is New Ways (a UK registered charity No. 1035688 :http://www.newways.org.uk ) and is a organisation the Unilever pension team has been supporting for over 10 years. It operates mainly in Turkana (arid region of North Kenya bordering Sudan and Ethiopia) and one of the areas hardest hit by the drought.

The money you give will support the basic needs of a community to enable it to survive and grow. The projects we are helping to support will provide the basic needs of life - clean water, a decent level of nutrition, basic healthcare and sustainable agriculture.

One example of a project your money will support is the nutritional nursery units helping to provide a healthy diet and basic education for young children in danger of malnutrition. The children are fed 2 meals a day, five days a week and learn the basic skills. New Ways feeds more than 2000 children a day. More details are available on the website. Less than 6% goes towards administration although most of this is covered by the donations of the Charity directors.

There is two ways you can donate:

a)     Via the just giving website http://www.justgiving.com/Jas-Chumber

b)    Via a cheque payable to "New Ways", c/o of me at Unilever PLC, Corporate Pensions, Unilever House, Blackfriars, London EC4P 4BQ.  For UK taxpayers, if you write your address on the back, we can claim the tax back

The climb will take 6 days and there will be snow and ice on the top and temperatures well below zero. I have also invested my time in training for the event.

Any amount you give will help, For example, it costs £60 a year to keep a child at nursery which will make a huge difference to that child’s chance of survival and has significantly improved life expectancy in the region.  So please say YES, and sponsor me.  Many thanks
