I have just had a last minute opportunity to cycle from Hastings to El Albir in Spain (Benidorm is the nearest big Town) I am cycling alone with 12kg of gear including my cooker, tent, sleeping bag (and a little common sense).

Its about 1400 miles, I know my basic route, heading from Calais down to Le Mans and onto Bordeaux, then back onto the Med, to cross the Pyrenees and into Spain, via Barcelona then onto El Albir

My Friend and his Son both have Type 1 Diabetes, which I know brings its own set of unique challenges.

The JDRF charity are commited to finding a cure and improving the life expectancies of people with Type 1 Diabetes, really useful people to have around I reckon!!!

I am as prepared as I can be but I am mighty nervous right now, but highly optomistic..........
