The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

In June 2015 five of our staff members completed the London to Brighton cycle challenge for The British Heart Foundation. This year we have decided to do something different and create our own charity cycle which 11 staff members will partake in.

This year’s event is: Hemel to Stonehenge - SWR Charity Cycle. The route is 124 miles and to give some context, a lap of the M25 is 117!! We have set ourselves the task of raising £7500 for The Hospice of St. Francis this year, the target is a stretch so every donation will help.

This year we wanted to raise money for a local charity and it was easy to select The Hospice of St Francis. The hospice does brilliant work in providing care for people with life limiting illnesses both at the hospice and in patients’ homes. This fantastic work has directly touched many staff members within SWR and we feel proud to be fundraising for such a brilliant cause.

To offer see what your money could go towards see below:

£25 can pay for a whole days supply of oxygen for a patient with breathing difficulties.

£50 could pay for a counselling session for a child experiencing the loss of a loved one.

£150 could keep our Specialist Home Care Nurses on the road for 3 weeks.

£500 could pay for an entire morning shift of nursing in our In-Patient Unit.

£1,000 could pay for a syringe driver used to administer medicine to patients.

We will be hugely grateful for any donations that you can make to this cause and it will certainly make the cycling that little bit easier knowing we have your support!

Thank you all in advance :)
