"TJ now in Year 2 faces the new year with the "head" of an excited 6 year
old yet with a "body" ravaged in daily battle with Crohn's Disease and
Ulcerative Colitis. Two conditions he hopes you never have to face in
your life. These are 2 of the least known diseases affecting children but
yet 2 of the most devastating - a long term condition that causes so much
harm to the young body. As a Mother it breaks my heart every day."
CICRA (Crohn's in Childhood Research Association) is dedicated to
creating a wider understanding of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis,
collectively known as Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) particularly as it
affects children and young adults. This relatively new charity provides
support for sufferers and their families and raises funds to support
medical research aimed at finding more effective treatments and
ultimately a cure.
A group of us, prompted by our friendship with Jax, TJ's mother, have
grouped together to try and raise awareness and funds for this incredible
charity. After the coffee morning, 6 of us are running the Great South 10 mile Run on 27th
October and also organising a charity curry night (TBC)
at Newick Tandoori (tickets to be on sale at the coffee morning).
The coffee and cake morning on FRIDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER is open to anyone,
so please tell your friends, families and neighbours to come along
between 8.30 and 11.00 am, where Trading Boundaries have kindly agreed to
donate 50% of all takings during this period to CICRA.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for lots of chat,
coffee and cakes.
Best wishes, from all of the team.
