The FireFlies TOUR 2019 · 12 June 2019 to 19 June 2019 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page...

In June myself and a ragtag bunch of other overwhelmingly average cyclists will be embarking on an 8 day epic from Innsbruck, across four borders, over the European mountains, and finally to the shores of Cannes.

Traveling over 1000kms, with a total vertical climbing of over 25000 metres. It's climbing Everest 3 times over, whilst cycling from London to Manchester, and back again twice.

We'll be burning over 6000 calories a day, whilst churning up mountain after awesome mountain all in support of Bloodwise, the Leukemia research charity.

As you can imagine, it's not the easiest of tasks. It's a physical and mental battle of rider against road, for all of us involved. I ride bikes a lot. It's a meditation, it's a community and it's a physical test. The fireflies tour is more than just a ride, it's a family. A group of riders, spanning a vast array of abilities, pushing each other across the landscape.

I know it's hard to spare a bit of change, but this isn't a skydive or a fun run. It's a battle. A pilgrimage of intense suffering and every penny we raise is a penny spent towards ending the suffering of others. We've paid to do this ride, it's not sending me on holiday, every penny goes towards research.

Cancer is a bitch. We all know someone who's been afflicted by this awful disease. It tears apart families, takes away parents and children, ends friendships. Anything we can do that can fight against it, can save more than just a life.

So in advance, thank you - for your donation, and your support. I'll be suffering for you, and for all those affected.
