17/11 UPDATE:  Thanks to everyone for donating!  I got through the second try, and came in at one hour 37 . . a little over my target time, but something to improve on (I am threatening Tracey with it monthly. . . ).   Thank you so much for supporting me, and for giving to this cause.  You have given to more than a single cause in this instance.  Your giving here has the power to produce further countless positive benefits and effects. . for many, many people.  The stone dropped in a muddy pond, and the pool clears:  the ripple effect in water.

Thank you.

Jay

As part of my effort to raise money for the Ratnasambhava Buddhist Centre in Leeds, on November 1st I completed the Kendal duathlon.  Disappointingly, the weather was so appalling (see drowned-rat photo), the race organisers cancelled the cycling part of the race.  To repeat the whole event but throw in the swimming, on Sunday 15 November I will be cycling 12 miles, swimming 500 metres, and running 5 miles -- and I'm aiming to complete in 1 hour 30 mins.

The Ratnasambhava Kadampa Buddhist Centre is a registered charity.  They are raising money to buy a permanent and larger centre, which would enable them to offer meditation classes for all, retreats, and to open a ‘world peace café.’  The house that the centre is currently renting is now too small for the kinds of services that could be offered.  Since the beginning of the year we’ve raised £80,000 towards a new property, including a lot of personal donations.  Members of the community have now been invited to raise another £1000 each – to provide the last £20,000 or so we will need to buy the house.

I'm very grateful to you for sponsoring me.  And I thank you for taking time out to visit my page.
