In memory of David Greaves
We fund care, campaigning and research to achieve a world free from MND

Story

In 2015, David Greaves, ultra marathon runner, iron man and all round super human, was diagnosed with MND. In the subsequent 15 months he married his incredible wife, Philippa, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and touring East Africa together, raising over £12,000 for MNDA and beginning the #2fingers2MND fundraising juggernaut.

David also wrote children's stories, and it is through these that I got to know him, having sadly only had the privilege of meeting him in person on their incredible wedding day.  David's determination to write, despite losing the use of his arms and speech, and his ability to continue to bring joy and laughter to others in spite of the diagnosis he was living through, achieving things unimaginable to regular, non hero like humans, is part of the incredible, inspiring legacy he leaves behind.

Philippa is my oldest friend, having known each other since we were 4 years old, and the strength and love she has shown since the beginning of this tragic journey is truly extraordinary. Since Dave's passing I have had the honour of getting to know some of their family and friends; it's bittersweet to enjoy the magnitude of anecdotes from his extraordinary, but all too short life, but the way they move forward despite the shadow of his illness and passing is nothing short of humbling.

I'm not made of a quarter of the strength that they are, and running a half marathon feels pretty far beyond my over weight, out of shape reach, but I'm going to try my bloody hardest to join the fight against this truly horrific disease.

So, if you can spare a few pennies to help us stick 2 fingers 2 MND I'd be all the gratefuls a person can be.
