Greater Manchester Marathon 2012 · 29 April 2012 ·

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a charity set up in 1990 by people sick of seeing the ocean they love polluted. We campaign to protect the ocean and all it makes possible, by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top. We're calling for an end to sewage and plastic pollution.

Story

So. I'm turning 40. And though they say 40 is the new 30, they're usually a twenty-something, free-running ad agency type and what do they know?

So I'm getting on, really. And my partner's about to run her second marathon. Don't get me wrong. I love her, and think this is amazing, but: grrr.

And we all love the oceans, right? From those early memories of family holidays, to first messing about on surfboards too small for us towny types, and now watching our own nieces, nephews or kids taking their first paddling steps we all love the oceans, and want to keep on being able to enjoy them.

So here's the thing. I'm going to run (and probably crawl) a very, very long way in UNDER 4 HOURS. In the process I hope to solve my mid-life crisis, respond to the wholly imaginary gauntlet thrown down by my girlfriend and, with your help, raise money for an organisation who do incredible things to keep the seas and beaches around the country clean and safe for all of us to enjoy.

Simples.
