Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Wednesday of last week (18 May) I completed an 18 days walk of the Pennine Way. I did it to raise money for the Community of the Resurrection's Centenary Church Appeal. The site remains open for donations. The Community is grateful to all who have made a contribution already, whether through the site or offline direct to me.
The Community is a Church of England Monastery in Mirfield, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. For over a century it has been a vital spiritual, educational and regenerational resource for Christian people from far and near. Its church is a the heart of the life of the Community and the worship and other activities of its many visitors, including those who come for retreats, space, refreshment and encouragement.
It is now in need of major refurbishment - structural repairs, new heating, rewiring, new sound and lighting and disabled access. The Church has had to be taken out of use and worship is temporarily taking place in the Refectory.
The Community needs help to safeguard what makes this place special and to create a church that can serve and sustain its many users for another century.
The Pennine Way extends over a distance of 272 miles But most people do more than that through the need in many places to walk off the way to and from their overnight stays. The Way starts at Edale in Derbyshire and finishes over the border in Scotland, at Kirk Yetholm.
Do have a look at the photographs of the Way on this site.. If you want to see photos of the the Church or get more details about he project, visit the Community's web site, which you will find easily on Google. Thank you most sincerely for any contribution you are able to make.
