Jemima's Everest 2012 Adventure!

In April 2012 I will be part of a team trekking to Everest Base Camp. I will be trekking along with 20 of my work colleagues from St. James’s Place Wealth Management and together we hope to raise £500,000 for our Foundation which grants awards to the smaller UK registered charities operating in the UK and abroad.
This trek represents a huge commitment for me; physically, mentally and financially. This is not a subsidised holiday and every member of our team are paying costs in full. I would emphasise that every penny raised goes to the Foundation and then to charities who apply for grants. Our trek will take 3 weeks, but for our team leader, Roger Owen, his journey doesn’t end at Base Camp. We will be saying goodbye to him from there and he will then embark on his epic journey to summit, to stand on the roof of the world!
Some of the charities who will benefit include:
· Children of the Himalayas (COTH) – who provide Malnutrition Centres for children in Nepal who desperately need medical care and good nutrition. We have now helped establish 14 centres throughout Nepal.
· Teenage Cancer Trust – The Foundation has donated over £440,000 to fund patient technology in three of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist units – Birmingham Children’s Hospital, St. James’s in Leeds and The Royal Marsden in Surrey.
· The Children’s Trust – The Foundation donated £1.2 million to The Children’s Trust to fund the building of a specialist Hydrotherapy Centre for children with acquired brain injuries.
