Story
I have been back nearly a week now and I'm just not sure how to feel? It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done both emotionally and physically! The constant walking day after day up steep mountain sides is harder enough but with the altitude and nausea on top it's allot to take. Would I do it again NO, am I glad I did it? YES! I have made the best friends on my trip and really feel like we achieved something together that most people never get to do. The support you give each other is just amazing and one week of this regains all trust in humanity. I would have given anything to be airlifted off that bloody mountain last week but on reflection the emotional stress we put ourselves under was worth every second. To have those memories of reaching the top and looking out over the clouds is a truly euphoria feeling that I will never forget!
Thank you all so much for your support and sponsorships, I can assure you I worked for every penny!

Well the time has now come and we leave for Africa tomorrow. I can’t really believe it’s come round so quickly! The nerves have massively set in now and although I'm a little apprehensive I am also very excited! We have completed out last training session so if we're not ready now we never will be. I feel like Scholl owe me shares in the company with the amount of blister plasters I have bought to take with me! We have made an amazing amount of money so thank you all so much!!!! If you haven’t yet sponsored me then there’s still time so please follow the steps bellow. I'm taking a photo of uncle Paul up the mountain and I will be wearing a shirt with both his and Brian’s name on the arms so when I feel like I cant go on I will just look down at them and gather a little more strength!
Obviously I wont have phone signal on the mountain but I will try and send a few texts when I get down to let you know I’m ok.
Love you all and see you very soon xxxxx
Hi everyone,
Just a quick update..... the dinner dance was another amazing night mainly due to all of you! We raised £4645.00 in total (and £300 for help the heros as it was poppy day.) The money will apear on here in bit's, a big payment along side smaller payments from auction winners and the last few ticket sales. I will add some pics from the night on this page so please take a look.
Louise and I did Mount Snowdon last weekend and although the weather was crazy bad it was stunning! It was hard work and the thought of doing that 6 days in a row was a little heartbreaking but we are gradually getting more prepared.
Thanks again to everyone for your help, love you all x
As hard as the London Marathon was, I feel ready for a new challenge! So here it is, along side my trusted trekking companion Louise, we will be attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in February. As hard as it is to believe we will be spending 6 days trekking Africa's highest mountain without a sign off a straightener, make up bag or SHOWER in sight! We will be trekking through jungle, rock terrain and final on summit day large ice formation where it can reach -20 degrees! Thermals and mittens at the ready! Training is well under way and to help combat altitude sickness, we will be giving up alcohol! I know, Jem give up wine you say, but for such a great cause I am willing to make that sacrifice.
By now you should all know me and therefore know how important Beating Bowel Cancer is to me, for those of you who don’t here are my reasons. I lost my uncle Paul to the disease a few years ago and since then I have been determined to raise awareness in the hope that we can go some way to finding a cure to this cruel disease. I also run for Brian Cardy who also lost his fight, two great men! We want to educate people in the warning signs, if we diagnose the disease early enough the chances of survival are greatly improved. I saw such strength in both of them and this has inspired me no end in fund raising, I know they will both be willing me on and pushing me up that mountain!
I know times are really tough for everyone and we are all struggling to make ends meet but if you feel you can help just a little that would be amazing! As they say every penny and pound counts and with your help I know we can smash our target again!
