About mum:

It is safe to say the death of our mother shocked, saddened and wounded the hundreds of people she knew in her short lifetime.

Jackie Page (nee Groves) was only 45 years old when she peacefully, but unexpectedly, passed away in her sleep on August 20, 2015 after an eight-day battle in the Queen’s Medical Centre’s intensive care unit.

People kept telling us it was the best way for someone to go – that our mother was not aware of her eight days in hospital, hooked up to machines – but we would have preferred to have known what was going to happen.

Mum died just three weekends before she was set to get married.

Living with mum in Nottingham meant Jemma had months and months of seeing her prancing around in her wedding dress – the item of clothing she is proudly buried in – and scrolling through bouquets, rings and décor on Pinterest.

She will never know that her biker friends were planning a lavish evening do at the end of the ceremony – something she dreamt of.

She will never see us get married or have children, which is something we know she so badly wanted.

There are countless moments that we will long for, and there will always be a mother-shaped hole in our hearts, but despite her short life, we have been left with a head filled with mum memories.

From the time when we graduated and she was beaming with pride all day long to the times she would like every single one of our Facebook posts, tweets and Instagram pictures within about two minutes of posting them.

Along with my father, my mum did a wonderful job of raising us, and we owe our success and lives to her. We could not be any more thankful.

She embodied all the attributes of a perfect parent – she was caring, compassionate, loving and also strict, which is something every child needs.

Our mother was our idol and we looked up to her our entire lives. She was our confidence, our bravery, our strength, our compassion, our loyalty and even our laughter. And if she taught us one thing, it would be to always trust ourselves because she believed in us.

Although she is now at peace, we are left with pain and sadness. But even though she is gone, she has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. The way she touched each and every one of our lives will remain, and we ask you to keep those magical memories alive.

To remember our mother and thank the intensive care unit for their help and support during the most difficult time of mine and my family's life, we will be taking on a number of tasks to raise money.
