Huntington's Disease Association England and Wales exists to support anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease. It pursues the best possible care; provides training and advice to families and professionals; raises awareness, and promotes research towards better treatment and care.

Story

So I am running my third marathon ... why ... firstly because a long time ago it seemed a good idea to enter the ballot for which I was successful (I am not sure that is the right word) and secondly because it is a great opportunity to raise some money for a charity which has recently meant a lot more to me.

I am raising money for The Huntington Disease Association (HDA). Huntington's disease is an hereditary disorder of the central nervous system, caused by a faulty gene on chromosome 4. In some way, which is not yet fully understood, the faulty gene leads to damage of the nerve cells in areas of the brain, this leads to gradual physical, mental and emotional changes.

The HDA exists to support people affected by Huntington's disease, to provide information and advice to professionals and to support research programmes.

For more information on Huntington's disease and the work of The HDA please visit www.hda.org.uk.

So please dig deep, help through those painful miles and donate now!
