Africa Educational Trust provides education to children and adults affected by conflict and poverty in Eastern Africa. Reaching over a quarter of a million people every year, we work to build better education systems and give learning opportunities to people who missed the chance to go to school.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On July 11th I will be running the London 10K for Africa Educational Trust (AET), a really worthwhile charity who I happen to work for! AET is committed to supporting education in conflict-affected African countries, in particular Southern Sudan, Somalia and Uganda. The education system in these countries does not compare to what we have here... On my trip to Uganda in February, I visited schools where there were not enough classrooms for all the children: I saw more than 50 children packed inside a room trying to learn. Teachers are barely trained and schools lack even basic resources such as textbooks and toilets.

AET supports children in primary and secondary schools, trains teachers, and provides literacy and skills training for internally displaced people living in camps, pastoralist communities and women who have missed out on the chance for education. I am running to raise money that will help vulnerable people in Sudan, Somalia and Uganda gain access to education, literacy and life skills.

Please give generously and I'll try and run my fastest!

Thanks so much in advance for any support you can give.
