Jen & Pete Take on The Bruno 200 Cycle Challenge

The Bruno 200 Cycle Challenge · 29 May 2015
The route goes from Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, up the spine of the country to our overnight stop at Aysgarth. The following day we push on to our finish line at Ampleforth. We think they chose the lumpiest route they could find as the route has 18,500ft of ascent over the 2 days. That is nearly the same as cycling up Mt Kilimanjaro!!
The text below is a letter from the organisers about the charity:
In May 2015, 200 cyclists will take on the challenge of cycling 200 miles from Chatsworth House in Derbyshire back to Ampleforth Abbey in North Yorkshire to raise money for the Bruno Bursary Fund. Please read on to find out more about the Fund and our challenge.
Our son Bruno was born and died in January 2012. He has already had an impact on us and on our wider circle of family and friends. To ensure a lasting tribute to him, we wish to do something positive.
We have therefore decided to raise £600,000 for a bursary, in Bruno's name, at Ampleforth College. The funds will be kept in endowment so that each and every year they generate £30,000 to cover the cost of one student in the school for that academic year. We have requested that the students receiving Bruno's Bursary over the years be from a background most needing help and support, the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people whose lives could change forever as a result of such a bursary at Ampleforth.
To raise funds for Bruno's Bursary, Jozef and 12 close friends, supported by Vivian and a team of family and friends, cycled over 650 miles from Saint Bruno's birthplace of Cologne in Germany, via Holland, Belgium and France, back to Ampleforth Abbey and College in North Yorkshire in 2013. This year, Team Bruno will consist of 200 cyclists cycling 200 miles from Chatsworth House in Derbyshire back to Ampleforth in just two days.
We hope you feel able to sponsor us on this challenge.
With sincerest thanks,
Jozef & Vivian Mycielski and Team Bruno
