My story
Hello, welcome to my Just Giving page!
As most of you will know, I was diagnosed with Coeliac disease almost 3 years ago now and have been following my 'disabled diet' ever since.
Coeliac disease is not an allergy or simple food intolerance. In fact it's a genetic autoimmune disease, where the body's immune system attacks its own tissues, causing inflammation of the small intestine. This inflammation results in severe damage to the lining of the small intestine, which stops the body properly absorbing nutrients and causes painful side effects. I want to help support Coeliac UK in the great job they do at raising awareness of this condition, offering practical support to those diagnosed and researching into Coeliac disease.
I have set myself a mammoth challenge here (I began training in October and could not even run 3 miles - just look at the pain on my face in my profile picture during a 5K race!) I have a long way to go and I will be cutting back the booze and the late nights over the coming months and stepping up the training and your sponsorship will help keep me going and remind me of why I am doing this.

Coeliac UK is the only charity in the UK, which supports those with coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis. It receives no government funding and is dependent on the generosity of the public to fund practical support, awareness raising and research into the condition.
