Berlin Marathon 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

The Attlee Centre was set up by the Attlee Foundation to commemorate Clement Attlee's life, work and achievements through piloting projects that benefit the people he cared most about - those disadvantaged by poverty, disability or lack of opportunity, particularly children and young people.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I'm setting myself a range of challenges to raise money for The Attlee Foundation over the next year and will keep you posted on my progress!  My first challenge is to do the Adidas 5k Challenge on 6th September in Hyde Park, despite my recent comedy knee and ankle injuries.

I got involved with Attlee and am now a Trustee because of the fantastic work it does in the East End of London, where my family is from.  The Foundation does work with young people and disadvantaged communities to provide opportunities which enable people to develop their full potential. We have built an amazing Youth and Community Centre near Brick Lane, with sports pitches, IT facilities and activities from football coaching to classes in English as a Second Language, to a very busy summer programme and last year our own Olympics. Now we're running projects to help young people plan and launch their own business ideas.  Attlee is also exporting its expertise to help other disadvantaged communities bring about change in their area.  As you can imagine, we need cash to continue providing our high quality programme of activities for young people, and to develop new projects.

I hope you'll support us and, if you can, complete the Gift Aid declaration too which means we get more for your money.

Thanks!
