The Big Walk 2017 · 30 June 2017 ·

Campaign by University of Sheffield (RCN HMRC Registered)
We need your help to bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield.

Story

We're taking part in The Big Walk 2017, a walking challenge on 30 June-1 July – a 50- mile circular walk starting and ending at the University and going out into the Peak District. We’ll have up to 24 hours to complete as much of the route as we can.

It's going to be a real challenge for both of us. We're determined to complete at least 35 miles before midnight, and hopefully manage to full route.

We're raising money towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as
Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
