In my wisdom I have decided to enter my first Half Marathon in St Albans on 12 June 2011. In hindsight I think I should have considered the terrain before signing up, as numerous people have since told me how hilly St Albans is. Added to the fact that it will be the height of the summer and it certainly makes for a challenge!
I am raising money for the Paul Sartori Foundation, which is a Pembrokeshire based charity that provides hospice at home care for people diagnosed with a terminal illness. The charity also provides support to the family and friends of the patient.
The care is provided free of charge however, the charity requires £700,000 a year to maintain the existing services. The majority of this income comes from donations, fundraising, house to house collections and charity stores. The charity does not employ any paid fundraisers but relies upon the generous support of volunteers and the general public.
